Umbwe via Barafu/ Mweka Combination Route
Duration: 8 Days
DAY 1:
Transfer to hotel for briefing and overnight stay
DAY 2:
Drive from Arusha to the Umbwe gates; start the climb through the rain forest with packed lunch on route reach the first encampment at 2800 m stop for dinner and overnight at the first cave campsite.
DAY 3:
After breakfast leave the glades of the forest and follow an ascending path on the open moor land to the Barranco encampment located at 3900 m stop for dinner and overnight at the Barranco campsite.
DAY 4:
This is an acclimatisation at Barranco, walking around the greater Barranco and up to the Karanga valley for acclimatisation.

DAY 5:
Depart from Karanga valley to Barafu camp site. Arrive
at around 17:00hrs and camp at Barafu for few hours before
continue to summit at midnight at 23:30hrs or 00:01hrs
DAY 6:
Early in the morning/midnight from Barafu camp commence
the ascent to the summit on steep and heavy screen up to Uhuru peak
(5 895 m) the highest point in Africa. you reach the summit at 6:30am or 7:00am from here we descend going straight down to the Mweka encampment for dinner and overnight at Mweka campsite.
DAY 7:
After breakfast we continue descending down to the Mweka park gate. transfer to the Moivaro lodge for overnight bed and breakfast.
DAY 8:
After breakfast and check out transfer to the airport/Namanga border for other descriptions/activity.
